| Modern western falconry teaching has all but discounted the screen perch, claiming it is an unsafe perch. I think this is a sad case of blaming the tool instead of the craftsman.
With that statement aside, it is amazing to western eyes to find hawks or falcons fastened to a pole like this. It is not an uncommon sight all over China, the only redeeming factor is that in such a populous country, a hawk is never left alone. These two falcons and two goshawks were kept in a city apartment, and this was the first room that you entered coming into the apartment. |
