Chinese with hawk
I was lucky enough to find young guys who loved to fly sparrow hawks in China. These young men are often energetic and so enthusiastic, that they are able to find sport almost anywhere.

The normal hunting ground was often the grass verges of the city freeways which we stalked on bicycles with a hawk on the fist.

Once potential quarry had been spotted the hawk would be transferred to a laid down position in the palm of the right hand.

The falconer would then do another casual ride-past in the hope of getting an element of surprise and throwing the hawk like a dart after the fleeing quarry.
