We had had a good days sport, from the first we had a lot of slips at both hares and very wild pheasants. Many were unsuccessful but the flights were fast and fun. The Chinese hill hares were a good size and are strong opponents for the hawks on these very steep hills on which they live. These goshawks are flown with no bells or Yemals and in such big country it is a credit to their falconers that contact is kept, and that we returned with all the hawks we set out with. |
